The 18000 series of standards covers the air interface for item management at the various frequencies and Magellan has been an active participant and contributor to the international process.

Magellan is therefore very pleased to confirm that ISO/IEC 18000 Part 3 Mode 2 (air interface for item management at 13.56MHz) received a unanimous vote of approval at the final international ballot and was published as an International Standard on 2 August 2004.

The conformance standard ISO 18047 Part 3 (air interface at 13.56MHz) was also approved by unanimous resolution during August 2004.

Magellan’s standards efforts and contributions will now concentrate on ensuring that the other proposed air interfaces for protocols covering areas such as Real Time Locating Systems and the EPC Global protocol are properly addressed as they progress through the ISO process.

This relates particularly to the areas of operability, artefacts and IP.
